It is recommended that waste Skydrol fluid be disposed of by approved disposal methods in accordance with federal, state, and local guidelines. Presently, the most universally accepted practice is incineration. Never reuse containers labeled "Skydrol" to store any other fluid. Wastes of Skydrol hydraulic fluid as originally sold would not be considered "hazardous waste." The "hazardous waste" classification is dependent on metal or solvent contamination from other sources.
There is no approved reclamation system or any known practical technology to completely reclaim Skydrol fluids for return to aircraft hydraulic system usage. Recovery technology is practiced for partial reclamation of the phosphate ester basestock from waste of used Skydrol hydraulic fluids.
